The Distant Horizon

nThe shoreline meandered serpentine-like
nboth north and south for mile upon endless mile.
nThe salient blue- green tide ebbed its way slowly homeward,
nonce again to embrace its misguided brethren.
nThe sea lanes were void of any and all seagoing traffic
nas far as the eye could see.
n
nThe sky’s intermittent clouds wispily journeyed off towards a new night.
nThe sea sparkled with glee as the setting sun
ncast the last remnants of its mitigated strength.
nThe compacted sand glistened golden,
ngently cooled by the descending sun.
nThe damp sand provided solace to our bare feet.
n
nThe strand hinted of seclusion as we grinned with delight,
nat presently, being its only welcomed guests.
nWe sat down, and nestled close to one another,
nas a gentle breeze whispered by.
nOur eyes espied in unison as the slow descent
nof one of nature’s greatest wonders took place.
n
nThe giant orange orb slowly faded into the distant horizon,
nleaving behind a trail of vibrant colors,
neach both glorious and vivid in its own respect.
nOur eyes remained motionlessly ahead
nas we beheld in awe the resplendent panorama around us.
n
nWe toasted to our serendipity,
nand hoped to hold this exact moment forever.
nOne so very dear to our hearts.
nAs the sun set far off to the west, we gently embraced,
nand held one another very close as a gentle chill came upon us.
nAs dusk enshrouded our environs,
nwe took comfort in knowing that our time together had just begun,
na time that would shine as brightly as the stage we just witnessed.
