Blue Sea Lake

rn‘Tis rimmed by purple mountains,
rnGreen waters kiss its shore,
rnAnd up on high, in azure sky,
rnWhite Sea Gulls dip and soar.
rnI would that you, at eventide,
rnWhen twilight’s shadows fall,
rnCould stand and watch the sun go down,
rnA vivid golden ball.
rnAnd see the hills and waters,
rnIn all their glorious hue,
rnForget your cares and sorrows,
rnAlone just God and you.

rnAnd now today in reverie,
rnMy heart goes out to this Blue Sea,
rnFor 30 years has passed and more,
rnSince my first-born played by her shore.
rnMy brow has felt time’s honoured hand,
rnGrandchildren’s feet now mark her sand.
rn
rnSo if I love this lake so fair,
rnWith memories sweet, and beauty rare,
rnIt’s just because each bending tree,
rnThroughout my life will call to me.
