ANOTHER DAY II

rn I send my soul into the morning
rn to see the world as it can be.
rn And then I look upon the scenery
rn and know that this is what I see.
rn For I am on a ship of beauty.
rn The sun is lighting up my way.
rn And I am on a life-time journey
rn and this is just another day.
rn
rn But I must rise to greet the living,
rn and I must join the highway trail.
rn And I must deal with their neuroses
rn and smile at smiles that have gone stale.
rn They've lost their souls to some evasion.
rn They've lost their minds to something worse.
rn And I can't bear to see them dying.
rn They're caught in some gigantic curse.
rn
rn I feel that I am something foreign.
rn I feel so cold and all alone.
rn I don't know how I have become so.
rn But one thing I have always known:
rn that they've betrayed their own existence,
rn and none has learned to use his mind,
rn and they have lost their own importance,
rn and they have truly all gone blind.
rn
rn They close their eyes upon the morning,
rn and they have never seen the spring.
rn They've never known a moment's clearness
rn or heard the morning country sing.
rn They've never felt a morning dew drop.
rn They rush each day past shaded trees.
rn They've never known a moment's silence
rn with head in hands, elbows on knees.
rn
rn I throw my soul into depression.
rn I see the world that they have made.
rn I numb my mind to what I'm seeing
rn in hope that everything will fade.
rn For I am on a ship of misery,
rn and tears are lighting up my way.
rn This feeling clouds my life-time journey
rn and this is just another day.
rn
rn But soon the day becomes the evening,
rn and I can go home with a smile,
rn to write a poem, see my lover,
rn to sit, relax, and rest awhile.
rn Now I have found a moment's silence,
rn and I have found a moment's thought.
rn And I look back to what I'm doing,
rn review the trap in which I'm caught.
rn
rn For I have set myself above them,
rn and in so doing, joined them too.
rn For I have grown my own neurosis
rn within my self-sustaining view.
rn Yes, they are lost and they are dying.
rn But I am wise enough to see.
rn And I can point them to tomorrow
rn to build the world as it can be.
rn
rn A man must be true to existence.
rn A man must be true to his mind.
rn A man must know that he's important,
rn for only then, he'll come to find
rn that he is on a ship of beauty.
rn His mind is lighting up his way.
rn How much I love this life-time journey,
rn and this is just another day.
rn
