Down by the silent blue lake,

rnA maiden combing her chestnut hair,
rnBeside the water sang:
rnWater nymphs and wood sprites,
rnPlay fiddles to the Queen,
rnAnd dance across the silent lake,
rnEnhance its glistening sheen.

rnOf water, fire, earth and wind,
rnShe chose the hardened earth,
rnThe roots of her heart stuck fast,
rnAs she softly sang:
rnWater nymphs and wood sprites,
rnPlay fiddles to the Queen,
rnAnd dance across the silent lake,
rnEnhance its glistening sheen.

rnThe water nymphs grew jealous,
rnThe wood sprites praised her so,
rnWith her flowing hair and her deep blue eyes,
rnBeneath the water flow:
rnWater nymphs and wood sprites,
rnPlay fiddles to the Queen,
rnAnd dance across the silent lake,
rnEnhance its glistening sheen.

rnThe waterfall across the lake,
rnBubbling and foaming on the surface,
rnWhere eddies whirled down the river,
rnThe maiden would sing:
rnWater nymphs and wood sprites,
rnPlay fiddles to the Queen,
rnAnd dance across the silent lake,

rnEnhance its glistening sheen.
rnPicking flowers above the waterfall,
rnBeside the river flowing,
rnThe water nymphs coaxed her in,
rnAnd slid down the waterfall:
rnWater nymphs and wood sprites,
rnPlay fiddles to the Queen,
rnAnd dance across the silent lake,
rnEnhance its glistening sheen.

rnAcross the lake she floated,
rnHer gown floated wide,
rnHer hair like a crown,
rnPast the waving rushes to the river:

rnThrough the meadows to the town,
rnShe floated by the market,
rnFlowers strewn across her dress,

rnThe maiden is not forgotten,
rnFor every bird and tree,
