Love is gone, gone is my love.
nTearing himself away from me he has gone
non a little path that stretches in the splendor of
na green hill into the autumn-tinted forest.
nOur last oath, shining and enduring
nlike a gold-mosaicked flower,
nhas turned to cold ashes, blown away
nin the breath of wind.
nI remember his poignant first kiss and its memory
nhas wrought a complete change in my destiny,
nthen withdrawn into oblivion.
nI hear not his sweet voice; I see not his fair looks.
nSince it is human to love, I, alert, dreaded a
nparting to come when we met.
nThe separation came so suddenly
nit broke my heart with renewed sorrow.
nYet, I know parting can only destroy our love if
nit causes futile tears to fall.
nI would rather transfer the surge of this sorrow
nonto the summit of hopefulness.
nAs we dread parting when we meet, so,
nwe promise to meet again when we part.
nThough my love is gone, I am not parted from love;
nan untiring love-song envelops the silence of love.
