Majority of Sri Lankans is Buddha which numbers 70 percent of population. The rests are Hindu, Islam, and Christian. Meanwhile, Negombo is multi-religious and multi-ethinicity. As the 5th largest city in Sri Lanka, Negombo has largest Roman Catholic nationwide. There are many curches throughout the area that get along together peacefully with Buddhist temples, Hindu temples and mosques. There is no horizontal conflict recorded based on religious issues.
