Beyond the Horizon

nMy throat feels tight,
nMy eyes are about to burst, but I wont let them spill,
nI wont, I can’t,
nSo I look up at the birds soaring high into the distance,
nAt the silky horizon where the sky meets the sea,
nAn ocean of undiscovered beauty,
nA world too big for me;
nA world I sometimes feel is shutting me out.

nSometimes I wish I could fly into it,
nFly into the star cloaked sky,
nHigh Beyond the heavens,
nStaring into a golden glittering sun,
nA vast ocean sea,
nJust to fly into it.
nBrushing away sorrows onto the clouds,
nThrowing broken hearts on the back of eagle’s wings.

nHurling all my worries,
nMy pain,
nMy past,
nInto the depths of the sea.
nShowing the word what I truly am
nShowing these people I don’t need them to live,
nBut then suddenly they come,
nEvery single one of them,
nThe forgotten memories,
nThe times we smiled,
nThe times we laughed,
nThe times they remembered I was a person too.
nThe times I had forgotten to be thankful for.
nThe times I never had to feel like I was alone.
n
nThen they begin to fly beside me,
nTheir lights shining in the darkness of the sky.
nSwarming all around me as they begin to turn,
nCollecting my anguish, my pain, my past,
nCollecting broken hearts and sorrows off a passing cloud.
nWe fly carrying the heavy burdens beside us,
nWe fly together.

nBut as we fly further and further they slowly begin to disappear,
nEach one evaporating into nothingness
nAnd I feel it getting lighter and lighter.
nSoon they are all gone, I smile,
nAs I look behind me one last time
nAt an ocean of the past.
nAnd as I look ahead into an ocean of the future
nI remember that
nAlthough some wounds can never naturally be healed,
nLove will make them fade.
