Yusheng literally means "raw fish" but since "fish (é±¼)" is commonly conflated with its homophone "abundance (ä½™)", YúshÄ“ng (鱼生) is interpreted as a homophone for YúshÄ“ng (ä½™å‡) meaning an increase in abundance. Therefore, yusheng is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor."
