my preference for composition is for the first one though someone might say that his robe portion is too much. But i think it gives a nice pattern that lead to the face above. For b/w tonal I prefer on this one because this has a better contrast compare to the first. I also light you give a highlight touch for his hair. But this is a great portrait.
