Geologic uplifting processes in the area during the Holocene transgression, about 19,000 BC, formed the island with a 5 km2 saltwater lake in the middle. The lake contains millions and millions of 4 species of stingless jelly fish and species of cassiopeia, goby fish, tube worm, anemone, and crustacean are also present in the lake. The drop off point of the coral reefs surrounding the island is another interesting dive site with many schools of barracuda and other interesting marine life present. This island is proposed to be a World Heritage Site, with status pending.rn
